priorities
access to quality education
As a first generation college graduate, Wendy knows that education is the foundation for our children to succeed. Wendy wants to ensure that all kids receive a quality public education and that our young girls and children from communities of color have access to science, technology and math programs in our schools, building careers for the future. Wendy believes that college should be a benefit shared by all, not a financial burden that saddles young people with debt.
affordable housing
Housing costs have skyrocketed, making Los Angeles one of the most expensive cities in which to live. Wendy understands the stress people are under to find affordable housing and keep up with rising home prices in addition to our homelessness crisis. She supports efforts to provide a permanent source of funding to build affordable housing as well as a statewide housing bond. Wendy understands we need to continue our efforts to provide affordable, workforce and homelessness housing.
economic opportunity
Wendy understands what it means for families to earn a living wage. She will continue fighting for high wage jobs, retirement security, affordable housing and economic growth. Wendy supported the $15 minimum wage in California and will work to expand growing industries like green energy, entertainment and technology. She will ensure that our small business owners and entrepreneurs get the help and resources they need to succeed and keep our neighborhoods strong.
access to health care
In her work for long term health care workers, Wendy fought for fair wages for caregivers who provide seniors and people with disabilities the dignity to stay in their homes. She believes healthcare is a right not a privilege and will defend the Affordable Care Act, working towards universal healthcare in California. Wendy will advocate for greater transparency in prescription drug pricing to bring down the costs of life-saving drugs.
supporting women's rights
Serving as a mentor, Wendy has been a role model for young girls, empowering them to succeed. She will be a leader in the fight for gender pay equity and expanding STEM programs in our schools. As the Trump administration seeks to defund Planned Parenthood and other family planning clinics, Wendy will fight to protect these essential resources for cancer screenings, birth control and life-saving treatments.
