Tamika Lyles was born in Jackson, Tennessee, raised by her warm, determined single mother. Having such a strong female presence guiding her, Lyles came to understand that her own passion and work ethic could be a powerful force of change. In her youth, Tamika passed the Tennessee State Board Exam to become the youngest Certified Nursing Assistant in the program’s history, volunteered as a Pre-Med student in the county’s largest public hospital, and followed her involvement in medicine and community engagement to graduate high school a year early.
She also founded a non-profit organization specializing in mediation; negotiating fair treatment for those who suffered civil rights violations.
