My role as a School Board Member gives me an understanding of the role public schools plays in ensuring the success of all students. I have been a champion for early childhood education; science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) initiatives; increasing parent involvement; and committed to responsible and equitable fiscal oversight.
protecting our environment
As a School Board Member, I have worked hard to build a broader and more representative coalition of environmentalists to protect California’s natural resources and my commitment to an increase in renewable energy and stronger action on climate change is one of my top priorities when elected to State Assembly.
jobs for the future
For past seven years I have worked with hundreds of students at UCSB to help prepare and train them for careers in various research fields (engineering, science, social science, and the humanities). School district has supported career technical education including creating partnerships with local community college for CTE careers and pathways (Health Academy and Culinary).
